As a choir, we know this… SING to make your soul happy!

‘Melodic Choir IOW’ are a friendly group of people who love to sing together- and have fun in the process! Meanwhile, we always aim to ascertain the highest standard possible for all performances.

We were privileged to sing at Cowes week this summer, and take part in many events all across the Island.

One of our highlights was to sing with the renowned ‘Tenors Unlimited’ at Medina Theatre, where we were invited to be their backing singers at their fabulous concert. We are absolutely delighted that they have asked us to accompany them again next year!

Recently we have expanded our Choir and now have many locations at many venues across the Island. These include: Ryde, East Cowes and Newport.  ‘Melodic Choir IOW’ proudly have over 100 members now and continues to grow in numbers every week!

We have 4 Vocal sections in our Choir and these include: Alto, Soprano, Tenor and Bass. Our ethos is to have fun while singing together, make friends, create a professional ‘Melodic’ sound and to raise as much money as we can with every performance.

We sing many contemporary styles including: Pop, Disco, Rock & Roll, Swing, Jazz to name a few!

When we perform we bring a great sense of ‘fun’ and do easy actions too to bring our songs to life, giving our audiences that special sparkle of interest!

We are proud that our concerts to date have raised over £30,000 for Isle of Wight charities over the last eleven years. These include: Sight for Wight, Parkinson’s Disease Society, M.S. Society, Daisy Chain IOW, and Ability Dogs 4 Young People to name a few. We have also supported the Wight Brainy Bunch and Friends of St Mary’s Hospital, (twice) which enabled them to buy new equipment for our Hospital.

If you like to sing, then why not come and join us? Give it a try! New members are always welcome and no experience is necessary. Also NO AUDITION NEEDED!

We do not use Music script either but learn by recorded videos devised for you.

We meet at:

Salvation Army Hall (Newport) – Mondays from 12.45-2.45pm AND

Elim Pentecostal Church (Sandown) 7-9pm

All Saints Church Hall (Ryde) – Tuesdays from 7-9pm

Whippingham Community Hall – (Whippingham – East Cowes) Thursdays from 6.30-8.30pm

We also have enjoyable social evenings (usually every 5/6 weeks), which is an ideal opportunity to get to know your fellow choir members and make new friends.

We are now open to new members!

Testimonials

Don't Take Our Word For It

Since joining Melodic just over a year ago my confidence has increased. Initially I went more for the social aspect but as I became more comfortable with the group l started enjoying the singing and 'found my voice '.

I now go twice a week and put myself forward to helping greet new members in a new group which I enjoy. My social life has improved and it has been a very positive experience for me.

Kay is an inspiration and very encouraging, we all need a Kay in our lives!

I joined Melodic Choir in May 2025. I love music and used to be in a church choir as well as the school choir, after that the only singing I done was with pre school children, ‘Wheels On The Bus’ and such like! I really wish I’d joined the choir earlier, it’s had an amazing effect on my mental health, just walking out of my home and leaving my troubles behind for a couple of hours to sing and be doing something I really enjoy! Bliss! I’ve made new friends, found another way to keep my mind stimulated by learning new songs and found a new sense of purpose with the fund raising we do for charity! Kay runs the choir and she is so very welcoming and never judges whilst being professional at the same time. Such fun! I would recommend joining a choir whatever age or gender. Musical therapy!

A choir is a place to meet friends, make friends and do something you enjoy all in one place. The choir master/ mistress is so important in bringing that sense of excitement, life, fun and togetherness. Kay at Melodic is just that person. She has a really fun approach and it definitely transfers onto the choir.

I sing with Melodic Choir Isle of Wight and I love it! It is so much fun and great for both my physical and mental health. I've made some lovely friends of all ages and it helps keep me young. We also raise lots of money for local charities so a win:win situation for everyone!

Being part of Melodic choir is pure joy! The music is uplifting, the energy is contagious, and every rehearsal leaves me feeling alive and full of spirit. The harmony, laughter, and sense of togetherness are truly inspiring — it’s not just singing, it’s medicine for the soul. This choir makes you feel well, connected, and truly alive, and such a lovely bunch of people.

“Kay makes our Melodic choir sessions such good fun and her professional but relaxed style of coaching has helped me expand my vocal range and develop greater self-confidence when performing. Her wonderful choice of varied song material continues to surprise and challenge us and Kay allows us to play to our strengths but helps overcome any weaknesses or worries we have about our voices. It’s so lovely to be able to take part in all the concerts and fund-raising activities around the island. Choir members really do support and encourage each other. You couldn't meet a nicer group of people. If you love to sing I would highly recommend giving Melodic a try.”
